Washington Board of Health to Create Water Standards for PFAS

Drinking Water Standards to be created for PFAS in Washington State

Amazing news!

On Wednesday, the Washington State Board of Health voted unanimously to move forward with drinking water standards for cancer-causing nonstick chemicals! This is an important step for safeguarding residents from these toxic chemicals in drinking water.

Thank you to everyone who raised their voice to ask for strong standards. You were heard!

The Board’s action was a direct result of a petition Toxic Free Future submitted along with the Arc of Washington State, Washington State Nurses Association, Earth Ministry, Zero Waste Washington, Progreso Latino Progress, WashPIRG, Citizens of Ebeys Reserve (COER), and Whidbey Water Keepers.

We will continue to report the progress of the Washington State Board of Health, Federal actions, and progress of other states on this issue as it unfolds.
